You might remember last year we told you about Heathcote Dementia Alliance’s Care Cabin concept. We even remodeled our courses to take you past Costerfield House, the prototype cabin on the grounds of Heathcote Health. This year you might notice that the Care Cabin is gone!
A lot has changed for our charity partner in the last twelve months so we thought we should give you a quick update.
Let’s start with a name change! Heathcote Dementia Alliance is now Dementia Alliance, a rebranding that reflects their expanding vision, growing reach, and commitment to serving communities across Australia and beyond
Why the change?
Dementia Alliance are embracing opportunities to have a broader impact. While their roots will always remain in Heathcote, their work has grown to include national and international recognition. The rebrand removes geographical boundaries, enabling them to collaborate more widely, form new partnerships, and extend their services to diverse communities throughout Australia.
Where did the Care Cabin go?
Dementia Alliance’s latest flagship project is “Reflections at Eppalock”, a nature-based sanctuary nestled on twenty acres on the serene banks of Lake Eppalock. This haven offers an opportunity for people with dementia and their carers to recharge, connect with others in similar situations, and learn new coping strategies together.
Reflections at Eppalock is a pioneering initiative designed to redefine dementia care through innovative respite, specialised accommodation, dedicated spaces for meaningful connection and inclusivity. With a focus on meeting diverse needs, this project is set to become a beacon of excellence in inclusive dementia care, enhancing the well-being of individuals and families.
And this is where you’ll now find Costerfield House – it will be the first of several accommodation options available.
Thanks to you, our 2024 event raised $6,500 for Dementia Alliance to put towards this new initiative. What can we raise this year?
