The ‘2022 O’Keefe Challenge Light The Trail Night Ride’ has been postponed to Friday 13th May due to heavy rain forecast.
A meeting was held today (28 April 2022) with our Ride Coordinators, Event Director, Logistics Manager and Board Chair, where we acknowledged that purpose of our social night ride is to enable participants to enjoy the awesome O’Keefe Rail Trail in a SAFE and FUN way.
We determined that with the heavy rain forecast during the event time, conditions on a dark O’Keefe Rail Trail would present a significant safety risk for our riders, volunteers and event organisers.
Furthermore, it didn’t sound like a very ‘fun’ way for our riders and our volunteer marshals to spend a Friday night, with some people expected to be out in the rain for over three hours.
So, the NEW date of the Night Ride will now be FRIDAY 13th MAY 2022.
(Yes, Friday the 13th!) and we hope to be more lucky with the weather second time around.
The event will again finish with a complimentary BBQ at Palling Bros Brewery in Heathcote.
What happens with entries?
Those who have already registered are not impacted, their entries remain unchanged.
IF any registered riders are unable to participate on this NEW date, we will provide them with a full refund.
They can simply email us via hello@theokeefe.com.au with the ‘refund for night ride’ in the subject line.
If the event is unable to be held on Friday 13th May, we will cancel the event rather than postpone again.
